St David's Day in Wales

This Friday the 1st of March will be a day of celebration in Wales for it is the day of the patron saint of Wales: Saint David. Saint David’s Day or Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant as it is known in Welsh is a day of celebrating both the saint and all things Welsh. Like all the countries that make up the United Kingdom Wales’ culture is both unique and vibrant and to experience it there are not many better days that Saint David’s Day.
Wales is home to some of the UK’s most magnificent scenery. The Snowdonia National Park provides breathtaking views of the picturesque valleys and the coast is home to some of the UK  and Europe’s most desirable beaches. Recently Rhossili Bay in the Gower was voted the 3rd best beach in Europe!

The day itself will see varied celebrations taking place across the country with the largest of the festivities taking place in the capital city, Cardiff. Both Cardiff and Swansea will also welcome royal visits from both The Queen, who is heading to Swansea and Prince of Wales, Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall who are heading to the capital. For the foodies amongst you, you will have the chance to sample some of the delicious Welsh national foods including Cawl and Welsh Cakes before a pride fueled rendition of the national anthem: Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau will no doubt take place (probably more than once).

Here at Cottages.co.uk we have a great selection of Cottages available all over Wales.
