Easter Egg Hunts

It has finally approached, the fabled four day weekend! This weekend is as good a weekend as any to take a nice long break in the UK with many of us receiving the day off work to celebrate both Good Friday and Easter Monday. Easter is a time to celebrate new life, new hope and the invention of chocolate! For this week’s blog post we’d like to share with our readers some of the best places in the UK to indulge in something the whole family always enjoy: the Easter Egg hunt!

For the more adventurous of you, a trip up to the Lake District will see you searching over 6,800 square kilometres of scenic Lake District countryside. There will be 50 handcrafted ceramic eggs placed around the area which will make for a great memento of the day out. The hunt is a great way to pair a spring walk, fantastic scenery and lighthearted fun.

A truly fantastic location, worth a visit all year round but especially recommended this weekend thanks to the Cadbury’s Easter Egg hunt. This Friday and Sunday the village and harbour will be filled with hidden golden eggs for you to hunt out in a bid to receive a delicious prize. The village will also feature face painting, egg and spoon races, a bouncy castle and musical entertainment.

Boasting a history that dates back to the purported origins of Easter itself is Dolaucothi Gold Mines in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. The unique gold mines were used by The Romans over 2000 years ago and this Easter the mines will allow visitors the chance to go on a treasure hunt of their own in search of the Easter Eggs dotted around the site. The mines also offer children the chance to try their hand at gold panning and the good news is it’s finders keepers!
