Ooh you’re having a larf!

Just in case you are short on laughs at the moment, what with the weather fluctuating between summer and autumn, we thought we would suggest a few festivals to brighten your mood.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival – 2nd-26th August

For non-stop laughs, clever shows and theatre productions and all manner of entertainment, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the place to be in August. If you’ve never visited during the festival before, then you really should go. You’ll see talent off the TV as well as new, up and coming ‘artists’ in comedy, performance, dance, music and much, much more. The festival has promised almost 3,000 shows and familiar faces Russell Kane, Al Murray, Reginald D Hunter, Lucy Porter, Ardal O’Hanlon and Jenny Eclair will all be there for your amusement.

Great British Craft Festival – 10th-11th August

If you are a fan of fashioning your own accessories and gifts for friends, you’ll love this festival at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. Craft and more craft is on offer here to make light of your holiday budget, as well as free demonstrations and workshops.

Liverpool Comedy Festival – 26th September-6th October

More laughter can be found in the great city of Liverpool from late September to early October. Although the line-up is still being sorted, last year’s comedy heavyweights included John Bishop, Sarah Millican, Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee, Jason Manford, Dara O’Briain, Ross Noble, Russell Howard and Stewart Lee. Side-splitting comedic performances will be held in venues throughout the city during the festival.

Dates for 2014
Other great festivals that you can catch again next year include the Exeter Food and Drink Festival from 25th to 27th April and the Hay on Wye Literary Festival from 22nd May to 1st June.
