A holiday chocolate fix

We thought visiting a chocolate factory might be a nice little treat for the family whilst holidaying in the UK. It seems we’re in good company, as only last month the top tier of The Royal Family also took a nosey around Mars’s UK headquarters in Slough, Berkshire.

Where can you experience something close to Willy Wonka’s magical, chocolate wonderland?

Cadbury World in Bourneville, Birmingham
We can’t promise chocolate rivers or flowers made of candy, but you will get to discover the wonders of chocolate making at Cadbury World. Highlights include a chocolate museum and factory tour and writing your name in liquid chocolate.

Walkers Chocolate Emporium in Ilfracombe, Devon
In beautiful Devon you’ll find the yummy Walkers Chocolate Emporium. Here a life-size Chocolate Man is more than tempting, but chocolate making demos in the Chocolate Theatre will soon grab your attention. Treats include chocolate-themed memorabilia in the museum and a short film on how to make chocolate.

One of the great things about this factory is that you can watch the chocolates being made by hand, whilst you sip a hot chocolate and tuck into sweet delights in their cafe. There’s also the all important chocolate shop on site too.

Pemberton’s Chocolate Farm in Llanboidy, Wales
This is our favourite kind of farm – a chocolate one. Pemeberton’s has a Chocolate Cinema for a little chocolate movie action, a Comfort Food Cafe which needs no explanation and a model village called Llansiocled. The tour is a real treat for the senses, including a chocolate making demonstration that teaches you how to pipe and decorate amongst other skills.

John Bull Factory near Bridlington, Yorkshire
And last but by no means least the John Bull Factory where you can discover all the historical chocolate secrets of the John Bull confectioners. Highlights include making your own chocolate lolly and personalised stick of rock.
